{bit of beauty: 1920’s}

I’m in a very peculiar, yet lovely mood. Is it possible to say that I’m in an old fashioned mood? These jazz-age styled photographs are so very interesting. Yes, they are pretty with gorgeous use of light and elegant costumes. However, what really strikes me is the feel of them and the relationship between the women in the photographs. It reminds me of the movie Belle Epoque, with all the sisters living at home together and finding things {and a man} to busy themselves with. These women feel like sisters to me, with the blond being the baby sister. This series invokes sentiment and a story. I think that is the mark of good art.

Also, I prepared a little treat for you. I picked out just under 40 tracks from the 1920’s and added them to a playlist at the bottom of this post. Enjoy!

  1. My favourite fashion era! I once tried to get my stylist to do my hair in these 1920's waves for a party I had to go to. Sadly she had no idea what she was doing and I ended up looking like Dallas Barbie. Last tine I ever went to her…

  2. So exciting!! I love discovering new music! This age was so classy, elegant & free…I know in a former life I partied with the Fitzgeralds on the West Egg!

  3. I have been listening to your playlist all 4th of July weekend long and I love it–especially The Sheik of Araby and Bye Bye Blackbird (which I noticed is in the movie Public Enemy).

    It would be so fun to use this music for a 20's themed party. I keep thinking hmmmm, maybe I should do something like that for Halloween, which falls on a Saturday this year….

    Thanks for putting it together! 🙂
