{DVF & Shopbop Giveaway}

A girl never forgets her first DVF dress. I picked mine up on a trip home from college, which was just around the time DVF was really hitting its revival. I was looking for the perfect dress to wear to a baptism and reception, et voila. It’s the go-to “lady-like-but-not-a-priss” dress.

Quite a bit has changed for Ms. D since then. DVF launched everything from luggage to shoes to handbags. The famous wrap-dresses are still featured in each collection that hits stores, but aren’t as prominent. DVF has gotten a little edge. One look at my Shopbop DVF boards, and you’ll know exactly what I mean.

dvf feather dress

Far from the body hugging jersey dresses, the Davi dress is silk and more “body-skimming.” A touch on the bohemian side, the feather print dress would be perfect with bare legs or black leggings. {Jeans for you very tall girls that we’re all so jealous of.} I’ve paired it with the Alex & Ani wire bangle, 7 for All Mankind Radly Ombre Platforms, and Ciaobella’s Nikko Hobo.

dvf sequins

Inspired by a post Roseline of {This is Glamorous} and my own personal style, I’ve paired some overtly glamorous and feminine items with a casual DVF Sweatshirt Dress. Kova & T lace stirrup leggings, Kenneth Jay Lane Feather earrings, and Alice+Olivia sequin cardi make this dressed-down dress all dressed up. Perfection for autumn.

dvf bag

If you’re not a dress girl, DVF has bags, too. Check these two straight from the runway. Call me crazy, but I really like the furry, multicolored stripe.

Everything above is currently available at Shopbop. Yes, it is the promised land. It’s one giant candy store of clothes, which is why we’re giving away a $100 gift card to be used sitewide. {So you can have all the DVF dresses and DVF handbags you want!} They ship internationally, so this contest is open to anyone.

{hearblack}

Recently stumbled upon the beautiful blog, hearblack, which has absolutely GORGEOUS photography by the blog’s author. {Seriously, go look.} To boot, the blog is run by a young couple who lives in Hawaii and is obviously ridiculously, gag-me, smitten with one another. Oh, and they’ve got some great photos of recent Switzerland and Oregon trips that will make you drool. Photography and fabulous life aside, I was fascinated with these fantastic and simple bits of art I found on the site. So simple and lovely. This is a definite DIY project for all. So, while we can’t all live in Hawaii, madly in love with perfect photography and craft skills, we can have these frames.

Love: Tokyo Milk

Not so much a friday finds post as a gush post. I love everything about Lollia‘s cool, edgier sister, Tokyo Milk. The packaging is so pretty I can never bring myself to throw it away, and everything smells delicious.

Obsessed with violets as I am, the Candied Violet confection is the only balm I’ll spread on my lips. It’s also great to rub on the cuticles.

I try to make myself at home wherever I go. When I travel, I bring tinned candles in my luggage. This one is the perfect size.

I spray the rosewater fragrance on my towels and linens. {Sometimes, Ms. Lola will get a sprtiz, too.}

{spaces: the moore space}

moore space interior

moore space interior

Down in Miami’s Design District, on 2nd Avenue, you’ll find one of the hippest historical spaces in South Florida. The Moore is a true 20’s gem, but with an updated twist; the white membranes that span from floor to floor give the space a sort of odd warmth, while bringing the space into the 21st century. The space is available for events through Brighthouse Events and frequently hosts exhibitions, pop-up shops, parties, and a wedding or two.

{goodbye summer}

September is here and it’s goodbye to summer! Bikinis will shortly give way to sweaters, unless you live near me. It’s time to bake apple pie and consume pumpkin spice anything. Days will get shorter {and cooler if you’re lucky to live North.} Leaves will turn, and we’ll soon get to turn those clocks back. I’m most excited at this time of year, because after September comes October, which means Halloween. After that, it’s non-stop holiday in my home. I can’t wait!

For those of you who won’t be seeing the ocean for a few months, I’ve included the video above. It’s ridiculously soothing.{Perhaps, you can send me some cold weather in return?}
