{yay for yoga}

I’ve gotten back into yoga and am happy to report that my little one has been introduced to the practice of yoga. The good news is that he loves it. The bad news is, children’s yoga is only once a week. I may need to buy a gong and set-up a room to practice with him. I do love the way the sound travels and fills the room. It’s like it goes right through you and tunes you. If you’ve never tried yoga, I suggest you give it at least a few. It may take you time to find the style that suits you, but you’ll begin to crave it, too. My preference? Kundalini and any sort of Hot Yoga.

{geek chic}

When did it become so chic to wear glasses? They look absolutely fabulous, so much so that I’d want to wear them again. I’ve been wearing contacts since the 5th grade and can’t wait to do Lasik so I can wake up seeing clearly. {Seriously, I’m as blind as a bat! I can’t see the big E on the chart. Oh ya, that’s bad.} So, maybe I’ll get Lasik and wear faux glasses. I love the way they look, but can’t stand not being able to see out of the corner of my eye!

{still seeing red…}

As previously established, I think the color that defines autumn is red. I’m itching for a red trenchcoat and to dye my hair red for a few months. {Desperately resisting the urge on both counts.} I’ve noticed I wear more red lipstick in fall, too. Then there are the apples that welcome Fall. Before the pumpkins appear, we see apples and their gorgeous red skins.

{fleur de saison}

No matter what you think of the song {every french person I know can’t stand her}, you’ve got to admit this is a gorgeous video.

{tgif: happy weekend!}

Cutting out early today. The munchkin and I are getting over a cold. I’m all stuffy nosed. Am off to make my Max crown and hopefully stop sneezing long enough to take the little one to see Where the Wild Things Are. It’s finally here!!!

{friday finds: chains of love}

You may recall that I gushed over Christian Cota’s use of delicate chains in his SS10 RTW collection a few weeks back. I also did a recap of nearly every show during NYFW over at the Little Pink Book. Cota and other designers added unexpected chain details to dresses and skirts that I could totally see translating onto the street. Well, it turns out you won’t have to swing a DIY or pay the big bucks for the look.

Chains of Love sells, well, chains. In this fab shop, you’ll find a leg chain exactly like the ones from the runway and chains that go on your shoulder like the one’s added to the perfectly ladylike Cota dresses. Perfect way to make anything in your closet new again!

Go ahead, say it… you know you love me.

{everyday beautiful life: tea for joy}

Could I be luckier? Really, I’ve had such fabulous guests in this series. Today our guest is Lynne of Tea for Joy. Lover of tea shops, typewriters, sustainability {yay!}, and design, Lynne is a writer based in the UK. Her list is simple and personal, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. {Am jealous about this whole Wandsworth Commons walk though!}

1. Wandsworth Common Walking through the common on the way to the train station everyday is an incredible blessing. I love being able to absorb some of nature before I start the working day. When I work at home, I try to go for a walk on the common every morning.

2. Small styling touches. I love to buy one bunch of flowers and divide them into lots of tiny arrangements – one flower in a milk bottle, another in a vintage teacup in the bathroom, and others in jam jars. It makes me a lot more cheerful. These flowers are out of season – but any yellow flowers are my favourites.

3. Shiny shoes. Anything glittery or shiny makes me happy – I love patent shoes and my favourite handbag is in a cracked silver.  I just bought these. and I recently saw this Nicole Farhi bag – just my style, if not my budget.

4. Good food. Although I still have a lot of progress to make, I try to eat healthily using seasonal food. When I’m working at home, I often make a Friday soup with any leftover vegetables. I am working hard on reducing my food waste.

5. Challenging myself about what is really important.  I recently watched an incredibly inspiring interview with Jessica Jackley of Kiva. She is the same age of me, but has co-founded an organization which makes $5 million loans a day to small entrepreneurs all over the world living in poverty. Shiny shoes and fresh flowers make me happy – but they are pretty insignificant.  Life is not worth much unless we help others make their lives more beautiful too.
