{miami heat}

Early April and already feeling the Miami heat after a lovely cool winter. Crossing my fingers for a few touches of sub-80 Spring weather. Still, I’m welcoming the warmer waters, and dare I say, a bit of sweat at the beach. Perhaps, I’m just a touch masochistic, but a part of me is looking forward to desiring things like cold melon or an icy cool dip in the pool…or more so, the satisfaction and relief that will come of those tiny pleasurable moments in the unbearable heat.

{heather waraksa}

A few pictures of Heather Warksa’s work. Adore the picture of this couple at the Harvard Club. {Wedding pictures and books?! My hear goes da-dum-da-dum…} Waraksa’s work on this vintage wedding, you must see. She’s got a knack for capturing a couple’s style. And, the picture of the moon stole my heart, because I’m a sucker for moonlit romps in the ocean…

corinne bailey rae

Corrinne Bailey Rae is one of my favorite musicians. She’s perfection on stage. Captivating, pure, and feminine, I can listen and watch her for hours. Surprisingly, I’d only watched two of her videos until last week. I was left utterly awestruck by the video for Just Like a Star. Production designer, Tom Gander, hung over 2,000 silver origami cranes were hung from the ceiling in this incredible video. You can watch the video here.

{bookworm heaven}

I’m looking for your favorite local bookshops. I’d like to begin compiling a list. I especially love rare book sellers. I have nothing against big bookstores like b&n, as they do serve their purpose. However, there is nothing like a bookshop that is based on the personality and eccentricities of its owner. It’s a lifestyle, beyond a passion, for these bookshop owners and clerks. It reminds me of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society: Sometimes, you walk into a bookstore and find three books you didn’t know you wanted.

Please list your favorite shops, no matter where in the world they are located, in the comments.

{bits of beauty turns one}

It’s my blogiversary!

{Bits of Beauty} began one year ago on this day. I didn’t set out to change my life through blogging, but it certainly happened. All I can say is that I’m thankful to have such wonderful readers and a great community of bloggers to support me and inspire me.

Thanks so much!

And of course, what would a celebration be without balloons?! Yipeeeee!!!!!
